Witley is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Waverley in Surrey, England centred miles (4 km) south west of the town of Godalming and miles (11 km) southwest of the county town, land is made up of mixed rural (from woods to cultivated fields, including some of the forested Greensand Ridge) and suburban grid reference: SU It had its Church. Thursley had a chapel which was attached to the Church at Witley. There was no mill. Godalming had three mills and was about twice the size of Witley. Somewhat younger than Witley Church is Oxenford Grange in the north of the parish. The word grange means a farm attached to a religious foundation.

Great Witley Parish Church has the most stunning interior of any Baroque church in England. Attached to, although not part of, English Heritage's Witley Court, entry is free and there is a display about the history of the court and church.

WITLEY. Witlei (xi cent.); Whitle or Witle (xiii cent. onwards). Witley is bounded on the west by Thursley, formerly a chapelry of the parish. It is rather over 6 miles from north to south, and 2 miles from east to west, tapering somewhat towards the south. It contains 7, acres of land, and 40 of water.
The parish is intersected by roads from Droitwich, Cleobury Mortimer, Stourport, Bromyard and Tenbury, and the road from Martley runs through it from south to north. The village lies along the Stourport road.
